I just read this book - by the same author who wrote the Mitford series. Apparently this is the first book in a new series. I really liked it a lot. I thought the plot had some nice twists and turns. It wrapped up a little quickly at the end, but it was very good. If you liked the Mitford series, you'll like this. You might even like it if you didn't like the Mitford series.
I don't think you have to have read the Mitford series first, but I do think a lot of it may be easier to follow if you have read the Mitford series beforehand.
